Ankur R. Sevak graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2005. While in law school, Mr. Sevak served on the Journal of Technology Law and Policy and was vice president of the Labor and Employment Law Association. Mr. Sevak also spent a semester studying international law and European politics at Leiden University in the Netherlands. He clerked at the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists in New York City, and served as a lobbying assistant at the American Institute of Architects in Washington, D.C. For his undergraduate degree, Mr. Sevak graduated cum laude from the University of Miami with a dual major in broadcast journalism and Spanish literature.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sevak served four years as a criminal prosecutor at the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, where he handled serious felony and insurance fraud cases. He was the first prosecutor for the newly created Insurance/Worker's Compensation Fraud Division, under the Organized Crime Unit of the State Attorneys' Office. Mr. Sevak has tried nearly 35 cases to verdict, wrote appellate briefs, and conducted immigration hearings related to deportation based on criminal convictions.
In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Sevak worked for several years as a broadcast writer and producer for CNN and FOX, working for programs such as Larry King Live, Showbiz Tonight, and the locally produced Deco Drive.
Mr. Sevak currently works in the firm's Weston office and concentrates his practice on Tort, Insurance Defense and Insurance Fraud. He is admitted to the Florida Bar and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Dade County Bar Association, as well as the South Asian Bar Association. Mr. Sevak is also fully bilingual in Spanish.
